Sarah Carl is in the English masters’ program at Old Dominion University. Her research includes rhetoric, composition, and gender studies. Sarah is currently working on her thesis. She plans to go on to a Ph.D. program in the near future.
As an Honors College advisor, she advises and works with students by providing academic support and advising during individual meetings with Honors College students, and other duties as assigned. Topics covered during these meetings include, but are not limited to: ePortfolios, degree requirements, academic performance, time management, goal setting, study skills, and the importance of campus involvement. Sarah aids in the presentation of programs to Honors students that include, but are not limited to: study skills, ePortfolios, and stress management. She also works with Academic Enhancement and Student Engagement offices to help in the areas of academic support and retention (particularly in terms of referrals). Sarah helps out during ODU Previews, Open Houses, Honors College First Class, Admitted Students’ Day, Scholars’ Day, and High School Counselor events.
